Expenses is a personal tool used only by its owner, on the owner's own Gmail account. It is not offered to other users.

What data it accesses

With the owner's permission, Expenses uses the Gmail API with the read-only scope (gmail.readonly). It searches for payment-related emails (bank alerts, UPI, card and merchant receipts) and reads their sender, subject, date and text. It cannot send, delete or change email.

How the data is used

Each payment email is processed to extract the amount, merchant, payment method and category. The email text is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI solely to perform this extraction. The resulting transactions are stored in a database on the owner's private server and shown only to the owner on a private dashboard.

Sharing

Data is not sold, shared, used for advertising, or used to train AI models by Expenses. No data is transferred to anyone other than the AI processing step described above.

Expenses' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and deletion

Extracted transactions are kept until the owner deletes them. Access can be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, after which no further email is read.
